DJID certification for wireless CCTV

Security is becoming an important needs in today’s life amidst the technological development and the risk of criminal acts. The practical and effective security surveillance is also increasingly needed nowadays. Wireless CCTV is a solution to the need for security surveillance in today’s modern era. Currently, wireless CCVT is one of the most popular home security system devices.

In this article we will discuss all about wireless CCTV and its DJID certification requirements in Indonesia.

What is wireless CCTV?

CCTV stands for Closed Circuit Television. It is a digital electronic device in the form of a camera that functions to record a certain area. Wireless CCTV is a type of CCTV that does not require cables during the operation and relies on wireless technology for the data transmission.

Generally, wireless CCTV is operated by using a Wifi network where two CCTV components, camera and receiver, work wirelessly. The wireless CCTV can also be accessed using a smartphone device. It requires the users to download a compatible application that is integrated with the CCTV.

How wireless CCTV works?

Wireless CCTV operates by sending video data over a Wifi network to a receiver device. Users can also access the recorded videos or live surveillance through a compatible application on the smartphone. The connection between wireless CCTV and smartphone are established via Wifi and Bluetooth technology.

Therefore, the installation process of wireless CCTV is much simpler because the camera does not require long cables to transfer the video data. The way Wireless CCTV operates is definitely more efficient than conventional CCTV which must be connected by cables. Check below for how Wireless CCTV works in detail.

  • Video and image capture: wireless CCTV will capture images and videos from the monitored area.
  • Data processing: images and videos captured by the wireless CCTV will be processed into data, then transferred via a Wifi network.
  • Data transmission: image and video data are sent via a Wifi network to the receiver device.
  • Storage and access: image and video data that has been sent will be stored in a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), Network Video Recorder (NVR), or cloud storage.
  • Real-time monitoring: some Wireless CCTVs are also equipped with technology that allows you to monitor video in real-time throuh smartphone, as long as it is connected to the internet.

Benefits of wireless CCTV

There are several benefits offered by installing wireless CCTV that make it a favorite choice over conventional CCTV.

Easy and cheap installation

Wireless CCTV is one of the security devices that come with easy and quick installation process. Users can do the installation just by following the manual or tutorial. Because Wireless CCTV does not need cables, the installation costs are also more affordable than conventional CCTV.

Can be accessed remotely

Many wireless CCTV systems allow users to access recordings video in real-time condition through an application installed on smartphones or computers. It is easier for users to monitor the conditions around the wireless CCTV.

Flexible placement

As the name implies, wireless CCTV does not require cables to transmit image and video data. The device can be installed in hard-to-reach locations, as long as it is still within the range of the Wifi signal and electricity.

Modern device form

The form of modern wireless CCTV devices is mostly simpler and smaller, giving a cleaner and neater appearance. Therefore, wireless CCTV is suitable for maintaining a certain aesthetic at home.

Can be connected to smart home devices

Wireless CCTV can often be integrated with other smart home devices, making automation and control of home security systems easier.

DJID certification for wireless CCTV

Wireless CCTV will requires Wifi connectivity to communicate with receiver. In addition to Wifi, some wireless CCTVs also use Bluetooth connectivity to communicate with smartphones.

Therefore, wireless CCTV is mandatory to meet applicable compliance standards before being marketed in Indonesia. This compliance requirement is carried out through a product certification process called DJID certification.

By processing the DJID certification, it indicates that the product has been marketed legally in Indonesia. In addition, DJID certificate also ensures that the wireless CCTV works in the permitted frequency bands in Indonesia, so it will not cause any interference during its operation.

Before processing the DJID certification, it is necessary to perform RF and EMC test for wireless CCTV. The RF and EMC test reports will be used for the DJID certification.

RF test for wireless CCTV

As already mentioned that wireless CCTV support Wifi connectivity, the supporting band is usually just Wifi 2.4 GHz. The testing of Wifi is conducted based on the technical regulation of KEPMEN KOMDIGI No. 12 year 2025. Below is the mandatory testing parameters for Wifi feature.

Frequency rangeClassification

2400 – 2483.5 MHZAccess type 1< 27 dBm EIRP (500 mWatt)< 40 MHzETSI EN 300 328 (min version 1.8.1)

In addition to Wifi connectivity, some wireless CCTVs also support Bluetooth connectivity. The testing of Bluetooth is conducted based on the technical regulation of KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 260 year 2024. Below is the mandatory testing parameters for Bluetooth feature.

EMC test for wireless CCTV

EMC test for wireless CCTV is performed based on the EMC standard of CISPR32. Because wireless CCTV is supplied by DC power adapter, then the required EMC parameters are radiated and conducted emissions.

The testing of EMC radiated emission for wireless CCTV is carried out in the frequency range of 30 – 1000 MHz and 1000 – 6000 MHz. Meanwhile, the testing of EMC conducted emission is carried out at main terminal power of wireless CCTV and in the frequency range of 150 kHz – 30 MHz.
