Television or TV is one of the electronic devices that has changed significantly in decades. It was started with a TV tube (CRT) and now it has significantly shifted to a TV flat (LCD or LED). In addition to the shape, TV has also experienced many changes in terms of the features. Smart TV is a type of television equipped with some sophisticated features.
In this article we will discuss all about smart TV and its DJID certification requirements in Indonesia.
What is smart TV?
Smart TV is type of television with a flat screen (LCD or LED) that can be connected to the internet via Wifi connectivity. It allows users to browse any digital streaming platforms such as Youtube or Netflix. That is why, smart TV is also supported by operating systems like Android TV or Google TV.
How smart TV works?
As mentioned before that smart TV has Wifi connectivity, so the users can browse various digital content on their smart TV. Connecting the Wifi to smart TV is quite easy, and here are the steps you can follow.
- Turn on the TV, make sure the television is on and the remote is working properly.
- Press the Home or Menu button on the remote, then select the Settings option.
- In the settings menu, find and select the Network option.
- Select Wifi connection, then the TV will start searching for available networks.
- After the list of networks appears, select the Wifi name you want to connect to.
- Type your Wifi password correctly, then press Connect.
- If successful, your smart TV is connected to the internet and ready to be used for streaming or accessing any digital contents.
Connecting Wifi to smart TV provides direct access to various digital content, including streaming videos, music, and applications. This allows users to watch their favorite programs on the online streaming platforms such as Netflix and YouTube.
Features of smart TV

Similar to digital TV, a smart TV can also receive digital television broadcasts through its DVB-T2 feature. In addition to television broadcast features, smart TV also has some other features.
- Digital streaming platforms: by establish Wifi connectivity, smart TV can access various digital streaming platforms on the internet including streaming movies, listening to music, and playing games.
- Integrated with smart home: if users already have several smart home products at their house, they can consider to integrated the smart TV with other smart home products. Through this feature, you can connect various electronic devices with smart TV.
- Smart remote control: it allows users to control smart TV using sound. Smart remote control generally uses Bluetooth to communicate with Smart TV.
DJID certification for smart TV
As we already know that smart TV will requires Wifi connectivity to access various streaming platforms. Therefore, every smart TV has to meet the applicable technical standards before being marketed in Indonesia. This compliance requirement is carried out through a product certification process called DJID certification.
By processing the DJID certification, it indicates that the product has been marketed legally in Indonesia. In addition, DJID certificate also ensures that the smart TV already worked in the permitted frequency bands in Indonesia, so it will not cause any interference during its operation.
Before processing the DJID certification, it is necessary to perform several testing activities, such as RF, EMC, and electrical safety testing.
RF test for smart TV
In general, the required RF test for smart TV is DVB-T2, Wifi, and Bluetooth features. Smart TV is DVB-T2 digital broadcast receivers so they have to meet the technical regulation of PERMEN KOMINFO No. 4 year 2019. Below are the required testing parameters for DVB-T2 feature.
| Specifications | Requirements |
| Tuning frequency range | 478 MHz – 694 MHz |
| Demodulation | COFDM |
| Channel bandwidth | 8 MHz |
| Transmission mode | 1K, 2K, 4K, 8K, 16K, 32K |
| Modulation | QSPK, 16QAM, 64QAM, 256QAM |
| Input signal level | -70 dBm to -25 dBm |
Bluetooth testing for smart TVs is performed based on the technical regulation of KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 260 year 2024. Following are the required testing parameters for Bluetooth feature.
| Frequency band | Output power | Spurious emission | Testing method |
| 2400 – 2483.5 MHz | < 20 dBm EIRP | EN 300 328 | EN 300 328 |
Wifi testing for smart TV is performed based on the technical regulation of KEPMEN KOMDIGI No. 12 year 2025. Below is the required testing parameters for Wifi feature.
| Frequency range | Output power (Access type 1) | Output power (Access type 2) |
| 2400 – 2483.5 MHZ | < 27 dBm EIRP (500 mWatt) | < 36 dBm EIRP (4 Watt) |
| 5150 – 5250 MHz | < 23 dBm EIRP (200 mWatt) | N/A for Indonesia |
| 5250 – 5350 MHz | < 23 dBm EIRP (200 mWatt) | N/A for Indonesia |
| 5725 – 5825 MHz | < 23 dBm EIRP (200 mWatt) | < 36 dBm EIRP (4 Watt) |
EMC test for smart TV
EMC test for smart TV is performed based on the EMC standard of CISPR32. Based on that standard, the required EMC parameters for smart TV are radiated emission and conducted emission.
The testing of EMC radiated emission for smart TV is carried out in the frequency range of 30 – 1000 MHz and 1000 – 6000 MHz. Meanwhile, the testing of EMC conducted emission for smart TV is carried out at main terminal power and in the frequency range of 150 kHz – 30 MHz. In order to pass the both EMC radiated and conducted emissions test, the test result should be below the allowable limits.
Electrical safety test for smart TV
Electrical safety test is mandatory for smart TV because it is supplied by direct AC power. This testing is performed based on the electrical safety standard of IEC 60950. Based on that standard, the required electrical safety parameters for smart TV are touch current and electrical strength.
The testing of touch current is carried out by attaching the test leads to particular parts of the smart TV that possibly hold by hand. The results of touch current test should be less than 3.5 mA.
The testing of electrical strength is carried out by providing excess voltage to the smart TV. The results of electrical strength test should be no disconnection when it is given a voltage of 1500V – 3000V.
