All about DJID label requirements in Indonesia

In general, compliance label is one of the last stage in the entire product certification process. It is implemented to ensure that a product has met all applicable requirements and standards in one particular country. Not much different, DJID certification also requires the implementation of a DJID label for every product that already has a certificate in Indonesia.

Compliance label must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines in one country. Products with compliance label will indicate that the product has met legal requirements, including its applicable safety requirements.

In this article we will discuss the label requirements specifically for DJID certification in Indonesia.

Introduction to DJID label

Before telecommunication devices are being marketed in Indonesia, it is mandatory for Indonesian distributors to attach the DJID label on its device and packaging. The presence of the DJID label indicates that the device has been certified and legally to be marketed in Indonesia.

In addition, DJID label requirements are implemented to protect Indonesian consumers. It also gives knowledge to the consumers in terms of making better purchase decisions and increasing product competitiveness.

Telecommunication devices that do not comply with the DJID label requirements can be categorized as illegal products. These risks will cause mass product recalls because they do not comply with applicable regulations and compliance requirements in Indonesia.

Components of DJID label

As already mentioned before, Indonesian distributors as the certificate holders are required to attach the DJID label to their telecommunication devices that have been certified. The requirements of DJID label installation have changed in recent years.

Referring to the old regulation of DJID labeling requirements, there were much less strict for certificate holders in attaching warning sign labels if the RF feature of their products was only SDR (Bluetooth, NFC, etc).

Meanwhile, referring to the current labelling regulation of PERMEN KOMINFO NO 3 year 2024, it is stated that warning sign labels must be attached regardless of the RF features of the product.

In addition, it is also stated that there are three DJID label components that must be attached to telecommunication devices, as follows:

  • Certificate number and PLG ID
  • QR code
  • Warning sign

Information on the certificate number and PLG ID can be seen on a copy of the DJID certificate. The QR code contains at least the following information:

  • Certificate number
  • PLG ID
  • Brand
  • Model/type
  • Country of origin

The warning sign contains information regarding the prohibition of making changes to the specifications of telecommunication devices that can cause electromagnetic interference to the environment.

Installation of DJID label

All about DJID label requirements in Indonesia

The regulation of PERMEN KOMINFO NO 3 year 2024 was fully enforced 23 May 2024, and it is stated that the installation of DJID labels must be affixed on telecommunication devices and packaging (wrapping) of the telecommunications devices.

If the size of the telecommunication devices are too small which it is not possible to install a label on the device, then it is allowed to attach the label only on the packaging (wrapping) of the telecommunication devices.

DJID label installation can be done in the following ways:

  • Emboss, deboss, or printed
  • Sticked or attached
  • E-label for telecommunication devices with a display

There are special cases where some telecommunications devices do not have packaging or wrapping. Therefore, through the DJID sharing session, they conveyed that label installation can be done in the manual book.

Change on DJID label requirements

There have been several changes related to DJID label requirements in recent years. As we already know, the current regulation about the certification of telecommunication devices was fully implemented on 23 May 2024, resulting in changes to the DJID label requirements.

Labeling requirements before 23 May 2024Labeling requirements after 23 May 2024
For product with SRD feature only, the warning sign label
can be exempted, so the required labeling are:
1). Certificate number and PLG ID (Label)
2). QR code
Regardless of RF features of the product, the required labeling should be included below:
1). Certificate number and PLG ID
2). QR code
3). Warning sign and the description

In addition, in early 2025, SDPPI has changed to DJID. This also result in a change of the certificate format of the labeling requirements.

Those several changes are only applicable for the next certification process ahead. Therefore, DJID certificates that have been issued before the changes occurred can still use the old regulation of labeling requirements and do not necessary to make labeling adjustments.

Sanctions for not reporting DJID label

Starting from 23 May 2024, all telecommunication devices that already have DJID certificates are required to attach the labels on each device and packaging. If the device is small and cannot be labeled, the label can be attached to the manual book or packaging.

Certificate holders who intentionally do not attach labels to their telecommunication devices will be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of:

  • Warning letters
  • Termination of certification services for telecommunication devices for 6 months.

In addition, the installation of labels must also be reported through DJID online system by uploading the label photos to the NexGen e-certification service system no later than 30 working days from the date the certificate is issued.
