DJID certification for bluetooth speakers

Speakers have undergone significant developments with the rise of bluetooth speaker trend. Right now this type of speaker has become a primary choice for users who want to enjoy audio without the hassle. Bluetooth speakers are generally compact and highly portable, making them more convenient to use. Bluetooth speakers also no longer require cables for audio connections to other devices like smartphones, computers, or televisions.

In this article we will discuss all about bluetooth speaker and its DJID certification requirements in Indonesia.

What is bluetooth speakers?

Bluetooth speakers are a loudspeaker-type audio device that can be connected to various audio source devices using a bluetooth connection. In short, a wireless speaker type receives digital audio from another device via bluetooth transmission.

Generally, bluetooth speakers are powered by a rechargeable battery and making bluetooth speakers more convenient to use. However, many wall-powered bluetooth speakers still require cables for power supply. Bluetooth speakers also come in various sizes depending on their type and intended use.

How does bluetooth speakers works?

It is important for users to understand how a bluetooth speaker works before purchasing it. Here is how the bluetooth connection occurred between speaker and another device.

  • Pairing: The pairing process will require users to active the bluetooth feature on both speaker and audio source device such as smartphones or computers.
  • Data transfer: After the speakers and audio source devices are connected, the audio signal is transferred between the devices. The audio signal from the source device is transmitted to the bluetooth speaker via radio frequency waves in the frequency band 2.4 GHz.
  • Conversion and amplification: After the bluetooth speaker receives a digital audio signal, it is converted to analog audio. The amplifier will amplifies the analog audio signal to produce audible sound.
  • Sound output: The amplified sound waves are then transmitted into the air, making it audible for the users.

Benefits of bluetooth speakers

Bluetooth speakers are electronic devices that offer the convenience and flexibility of enjoying high-quality audio without the constraints of a wired connection. Here are some benefits of using bluetooth speakers.

Compact and flexible devices

The main attraction of bluetooth speakers is the flexibility and portability offered. Bluetooth speakers operate wirelessly via bluetooth connection, which allowing users to enjoy audio without relying on cables for connection with other audio source devices. Besides, most of bluetooth speakers are also supplied with battery, so dependence on electricity sources is not too high

Compact and flexible devices

The main attraction of bluetooth speakers is the flexibility and portability. Bluetooth speakers operate wirelessly via bluetooth connection, allowing users to enjoy audio without relying on cables or a power source.

Easy to use

Operating speakers with bluetooth technology is much easier than doing conventional process. Users can simply just activate the bluetooth feature on the speaker and pair it with a audio source device such as smartphones or computers. This process is quick and requires no technical expertise, making it easy for anyone to use.

Produces clear and good quality sound

Bluetooth speaker can produce clear and good quality sounds, making the experience of listening to music or watching movies more comfortable. Many bluetooth speakers now even offer additional features such as equalizer settings to produce clearer and more comfortable audio.

Connectivity with various type of devices

Generally, bluetooth speakers can connect to various devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, or even televisions. With flexible connectivity with other devices, bluetooth speakers can be a practical audio solution device.

DJID certification for bluetooth speakers

As already explained before, bluetooth speakers operate using a bluetooth connection. Because of this feature, speakers with bluetooth feature need to meet applicable technical standards before being marketed in Indonesia. The process of fulfilling the technical standard requirements is carried out through the DJI certification process.

By processing DJID certification, it indicates that bluetooth speakers have complied with applicable compliance standards and can be marketed legally in Indonesia. Ownership of DJI certification also guarantees that bluetooth speakers will work on the permitted frequency band in Indonesia so that there is no radio frequency interference occurred.

Before processing the DJID certification, it is necessary to perform RF, EMC, and/or Electrical safety tests for bluetooth speakers. The RF, EMC, and/or Electrical safety test reports will be required during application submission process.

RF test for bluetooth speakers

Bluetooth feature is a type of wireless technology that commonly used in most of speaker nowadays. The testing of bluetooth is conducted based on the technical regulation of KEPMEN KOMINFO No. 260 year 2024 and below are the required testing parameters.

Frequency bandOutput powerSpurious emissionTesting method
2400 – 2483.5 MHz< 20 dBm EIRPETSI EN 300 328ETSI EN 300 328

EMC test for bluetooth speakers

There are several types of power supply used in bluetooth speakers, it could be primary batteries, rechargeable batteries, or even direct AC power. Therefore, EMC requirements will depend on the type of power supply used by the bluetooth speaker. The EMC testing process will be based on the international EMC standard CISPR 32.

Bluetooth speakers powered by primary or non-rechargeable batteries are only require to do EMC radiated emission test. The testing will be performed in the frequency ranges of 30 MHz – 1000 MHz and 1000 MHz – 6000 MHz.

Conversely, if the bluetooth speaker is powered by rechargeable batteries or direct AC power, then EMC conducted emission test is also required. The testing is performed on the bluetooth speaker’s main power terminals in the frequency range of 150 kHz – 30 MHz.

Electrical safety test for bluetooth speakers

Electrical safety test is required only if bluetooth speaker is supplied by AC power. The required electrical safety parameters need to tested are only touch current and electrical strength. The testing process is performed based on IEC standards of IEC 60950.

The testing of touch current is carried out by attaching the test leads to particular parts of bluetooth speakers that possibly hold by hand. The results of touch current test should be less than 3.5 mA.

The testing of electrical strength is carried out by providing excess voltage to bluetooth speakers. The results of electrical strength test should be no disconnection when it is given a voltage of 1500V – 3000V.
